Fishing Reports.Devon.Amherst Fishery. 01297 442773– anglers who have braved the cold and rain have found the fish, with some quite decent fish showing on the returns. Weighted nymphs fished on floating lines have caught the better fish, although the sunk line has been easier to fish. Dark Damsel, Montana, Viva and Cats Whisker are all catching their share of fish.Bellbrook Valley Trout Fishery, 01 398 351 292 – As a result of the recent frosts the fishing at Bellbrook has been outstanding with the fish in superb condition. The Damsel in all of its guises has been the most reliable pattern throughout. But small flies such as montana, various buzzers and goldhead flies have been most productive. Our 20th Anniversary Fly Fishing Competition on Sunday October 2nd.To celebrate our 20 years of fly fishing from October 5th 1991, we are going to offer '30 lucky anglers 6 fish permits and lunch for £20'! Wow, yes £20! Every angler that purchases a three fish permit or more from 1st April to 31st August will receive a free raffle ticket. This raffle ticket means that the angler will be entered into a raffle that will be drawn at the beginning of September. The first 30 different anglers to be drawn at random will be invited to fish a special competition on Sunday October 2nd and prizes will include fly fishing tackle and fly fishing tickets. There will be mystery prizes for the anglers who catch the first fish and smallest fish of the comp. So the more times you purchase a permit between 1st April and 31st August, the more chances you will have of being invited to fish our competition for £20! All 30 lucky anglers will be notified by telephone and their names will be published in our September Newsletter. So good luck! Good news! We will be making no price increases to our fishing tariff for the 2011 season! Despite the increases in our running costs, we feel that it would make it really difficult for our average angler to afford to come fishing once a week or so, if an increase in our fishing permits was to take place. We will however be asking anglers to be aware of our time limits on our fishing permits, 2 fish evening permit (4pm) is four hours, 3 fish is four hours, 4 fish is five hours and our 5 and 6 fish permits are all day permits. All day permits entitle the angler to fish from first light to dusk if they want to...that's good value!I am sure that you are aware that the fishery is closed every Monday now (except bank hols) but as a bonus for our anglers it is open from first light to dusk 6 days a week! So all you keen anglers that believe in the early bird catching the worm, 5am starts are not far away! All you need to do if you would like to fish early is to fill in one of our self service permits that are located outside of our tackle shop. After you have filled it in, just post it through the letterbox in our tackle shop door and when a member of staff arrives please come up to the tackle shop and pay. Our tackle shop has no fixed opening hours and is open on and off throughout the day, ring for more details.November 2010 Trout Fisherman Magazine 4 page article about our fishery has been framed and covered with special glass to prevent damage at a cost of £200 and put onto the wall in our anglers tea room! Wow and it looks fantastic!Hollies Trout Farm, 01404 841428– The adverse weather conditions has not put the fish off, most of the fish are still being caught not too far down.
